Getting Back to Writing
Time to say the things I never feel quite comfortable saying...
It’s Time to Get It Out.
I have so many thoughts. And I have so many insecurities. I generally hold back in my communications. I’m constantly reminded how little people want to hear, how “simple” they want the message, how shallow they want the conversation.
I’m afraid I’m not good enough to deliver depth and simplicity in a short time slot. That’s what this substack is for. The plan is simple. Say what I need to say, and take however much time I need to say it.
If you choose to come along this journey with me, here are a few things you need to know.
1. It’s not short and sweet.
Trust me, I won’t indulge in needless verbosity (is that a word?). But I’m also not going to hold back. Expect both long and short-form content. If I have to count words, I might as well stick to Facebook posts! That’s not what this is.
2. Unapologetically Christian
This may sound like a warning to non-Christian readers, but I mean it for those who call themselves Christians as well. The Bible has A LOT to say, and much of it will rub many church-goers the wrong way. Expect to be encouraged AND challenged. This is not an echo chamber for political, racial, or pseudo-Christian jargon.
3. Sporadic Posts and Subscriptions
Life is crazy, and I don’t have time to commit to a schedule of posts. I’m hoping to get a couple out a month. It could be more, could be less. You’ll want to subscribe (there’s a FREE version and a PAID version) to stay up to date. The free version will likely contain shorter articles and thoughts, and the paid version will include potential book content, podcast-like audio, and an opportunity to leave comments and feedback.
3. There’s Room For You.
If you know me, you know I’m not a big numbers guy. Quality over quantity is definitely the way to go for me. So don’t expect a huge number of people in our little community of Christian overanalysis. But if you have theological curiosity about the Bible, God’s Church, and the way it all plays out practically in our culture, then you’re my kind of people! I’d be honored if you joined us!
